How to Play Five Dice

Rules, scoring and tips for Five Dice, for first-time players.

How to play Five Dice

  1. 1

The game uses five dice. On your turn you can roll up to three times.

  2. 2

The first roll uses all five dice. For the second and third rolls, tap the dice you want to keep and roll the rest again. You can score at any time without using all three rolls.

  3. 3

After rolling, choose one empty box on the score card and score it. If nothing fits, you must still put 0 in one box. A box can't be changed once it's filled.

  4. 4

In the upper section (Ones to Sixes), you score the sum of the dice showing that number. If your upper section adds up to 63 or more, you get a 50-point bonus.

  5. 5

In the lower section, One Pair scores the sum of two matching dice, Two Pairs the sum of two different pairs, Three of a Kind the sum of three matching dice, and Four of a Kind the sum of four matching dice.

  6. 6

Small Straight (1-2-3-4-5) scores 15, Large Straight (2-3-4-5-6) scores 20, Full House (three of one number and two of another) scores the sum of all dice, Chance scores the sum of any five dice, and Five of a Kind (all five the same) scores 50.

  7. 7

The game ends when all 15 boxes are filled. The highest possible score is 374. In a match, the higher total wins.
